CEF Advanced Composites & Materials is a young, dynamic, with an eye on novel materials and processes innovation start-up company located in the Technology Development District in Istanbul.
By integrating advanced materials, cutting-edge technology, and eco-friendly manufacturing practices, we enhance aircraft efficiency, safety, sustainability and performance while minimizing environmental impact

Our team brings over 25 years of combined expertise in composite materials, driving innovation in advanced manufacturing. Founded in 2023 in Istanbul’s Technology Development District, we are committed to pioneering cutting-edge solutions. Currently, we are part of an incubation program, fostering growth and collaboration in the industry.

Cuma Ali Uçar
Ph.D. materials scientist who has managed projects and manufacturing and test labs as a leader in composites sector. Worked on formulation of thermoset and thermoplastic resins for improving flame and cure retardancy for thermosets and UV properties for thermoplastics respectively. Established a fire lab and managed mechanical, characterization, wet chemistry, polymer processing and fire labs. Moreover, leaded projects for developing a method for thermoplastic composite manufacturing process for sandwich composite materials as well as for establishing a manufacturing process for commingled braided thermoplastic hollow profiles.

Ertan Acar
Aeronautical engineer who has an experience of more than 15 years in composite materials research and manufacturing. Management of incoming workflow in Advanced Composite Manufacturing laboratory. Worked on the subject grid-stiffened lattice structures for fuselage applications. Developed morphing Active Twist Wings. Experience in Smart Structures for aircraft wings with piezo composites by manufacturing of piezoelectric ceramic embedded carbon fiber composite. Thermoforming of thermoplastic composites. Development and manufacturing of automated tape-laying end-effector for a robotic arm. Consulting for the development of Automated Fiber Placement integrator.
Materials
At CEF Advanced Composites & Materials, we specialize in working with both thermoset and thermoplastic materials in composite engineering. Our expertise allows us to process these advanced materials to create high-performance, lightweight, and durable solutions. We are committed to delivering cutting-edge and sustainable composite parts that meet the rigorous demands of the civil aviation and defense industries.

Thermosets
FST compliant, for primary and secondary structures, phenolic and epoxy resin materials. Can be manufactured with autoclave, compression molding, RTM and vacuum infusion processes.

Thermoplastics
High rate thermoplastic blanks, foams, sandwiches, bent hollow profiles and commingled braided fabrics from PPS, PPSU, PAI, PEI, PEEK and PEKK with carbon or glass fibers and fabrics to be used for cabin interior applications. Manufacturing methods are compression molding, stamp forming and autoclave.

A Case Study (PoC)

Innovative Thermoplastic Hollow Profile Manufacturing Method Successfully Developed
We successfully completed a proof-of-concept study in collaboration with a leading aerospace customer to develop an advanced manufacturing method for thermoplastic hollow profiles. The objective was to enable the efficient processing of bent hollow profiles using high-performance thermoplastic composite materials. After rigorous development and validation, the proposed manufacturing method was approved by the customer, and the optimized part geometry was delivered.
Project Scope & Work Packages
The study was structured into the following key work packages:

- Literature Review & Benchmarking – Analyzing existing technologies and best practices
- Material Characterization – Assessing properties of high-performance thermoplastics
- Process Concept Development – Designing an innovative manufacturing approach

- Prototyping & Testing – Producing and evaluating sample components
- Documentation & Results Presentation – Delivering a comprehensive project report
The study was successfully completed within six months, achieving a bending capability of more than 10° while ensuring full consolidation of the part, as confirmed by the customer.
